Frequently Asked Questions

How does the booking process work?

You search dates and location, compare offers from local suppliers, and confirm your choice. An advance payment secures the reservation; the booking service connects you with the supplier, who sends a voucher to your email. The voucher lists the exact pick-up address, contact number, remaining amount and all terms.

What documents do I need at pick-up?

Bring the voucher (printed or on your phone), your driving licence held for the minimum period stated in the voucher, passport or ID card, and a credit card in the main driver's name. Some suppliers accept debit cards; the voucher specifies which payment methods they take for the balance and any hold.

Can I change or cancel my reservation?

Amendments depend on the supplier's cancellation policy shown during checkout and in your voucher. Most allow free changes up to 48 hours before pick-up; closer to collection time fees may apply. Contact this booking service by email or phone with your reference number to request a modification.

What are the age and licence requirements?

Minimum age is usually 21, with at least one year's driving experience; drivers under 25 often pay a young-driver surcharge directly to the supplier. Certain vehicle categories require age 25 or 27 and longer licence tenure. Your voucher confirms the exact rules for your booking.

Is the vehicle delivered with a full tank?

Standard practice is full-to-full: you collect with a full tank and return it full. Galp, BP and Repsol stations operate across the island; failing to refuel means the supplier invoices the missing fuel plus an admin fee. The voucher states the fuel policy.

Can I drive anywhere on the island?

Movement within Madeira is unrestricted on paved roads. Off-road tracks and some forestry trails may void coverage; the voucher or rental agreement lists prohibited routes. Taking a vehicle off the island requires written permission from the supplier, and most prohibit it entirely.

What if the vehicle has a problem during my rental?

Call the supplier's helpline printed on your voucher immediately. They arrange roadside assistance or a replacement depending on the issue. Never attempt repairs yourself or use third-party services without approval, as that may void insurance and leave you liable for costs.

How does insurance and coverage work?

Each offer includes a base package; the voucher details excess amounts, coverage limits and optional upgrades available at the counter. Suppliers handle claims directly. This booking service does not sell or underwrite insurance; all terms come from the supplier you choose.

Where can I collect and return the vehicle?

Most suppliers operate desks inside FNC Cristiano Ronaldo airport terminal or nearby offices with shuttle service. Downtown Funchal, Canico and other towns have branch offices; the voucher gives the exact address and any shuttle instructions. Return is usually to the same location unless you booked a one-way rental.
